Loaves & Fishes:
Eliminate a neighbor's hunger for one delicious day

Hunger and hardship exist everywhere: at school, at work—in our own neighborhoods. According to the Connecticut Food Bank, more than 400,000 Connecticut residents struggle with hunger and more than 115,000 children are food insecure.

If you could help these children and their families in some small way, would you?

We bet you would. That’s why we invite you to join the Outreach Committee’s Food Drives for Loaves & Fishes.  Here's how you can help:

DONATE A MEAL:

Just $5 is enough to give a neighbor in need bread, salad, dinner, dessert and a mobile lunch (includes sandwich and snack). Everything that we bring is fresh, nutritious and delicious—and made with love. To donate, mail or bring your check to the North Congregational Church Office, 11 Main St., North, Woodbury CT 06798. Make checks payable to North Congregational Church, memo line: Loaves & Fishes Outreach. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to accept online donations yet.

WHEN DID NORTH CHURCH START PARTNERING WITH LOAVES & FISHES?

A match made in heaven: In June 2013, North Church Outreach Committee Member Cathy McMullin connected us with Loaves & Fishes—a charity she had deep roots with for many years. Loaves & Fishes just lost the group that served food on the months that had a fifth Tuesday on the calendar. North Church was looking for ways to help address hunger locally. We couldn’t do a monthly food drive but jumped at the chance to help every fifth Tuesday—which works out to four to five times a year. The timing was perfect.
