Adopt A Family
To benefit families at Safe Haven in Waterbury

Each year in November, a Christmas tree appears in the hallway leading to the parlor. This tree is covered with angel tags  containing the information for a child/parent for a gift for that person. Members of the congregation choose a tag and then bring that gift to the church. We provide 10 gifts for each recipient in need. The gifts are all delivered to Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury.

This year, because of Covid, we're doing things differently this year. Instead of adopting families, Safe Haven has asked that we collect items (below) throughout the month of November. Items can be dropped off at the Church office. Please call ahead to make certain Kathie Logan will be in the office. If you can't bring donations to the Church, contact Kathie who will make arrangements to pick them up. Deadline for donations: Sunday, Dec. 6th.

Requested Items:

  • diapers - any size

  • diaper wipes

  • bath soap-bar and liquid

  • shampoo

  • conditioner

  • feminine products

  • non perishable food

  • gift cards (in increments of $10, $15, $20 and $25) nothing higher than $25

  • deodorant

  • shaving cream

  • razors

  • body lotion

  • toothbrush

  • toothpaste

  • mouthwash

Safe Haven provides emergency shelter and free comprehensive support services to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assaults. North Church adopts 2-3 families each year and provides these families with a Christmas they would otherwise not have.
